Yerevan “Gladzor” University Teaching Department functions as an organizing and overseeing body to enhance effectiveness of teaching. Teaching Department procedure is ordered and led by the Head of the Teaching Department Aghavni Hakobyan, PhD in Economics, Assistant Professor, two Supervisors – Gohar Aslanyan and Ahahit Martirosyan, and the Coordinator – Elianora Jaghetsyan.
Due to efficient cooperating of Faculties and Teaching Department the teaching procedure based on credit system has been operating perfectly since 2006. Though the Faculty of Economics was the first one to pass to credit system teaching in 2007-2008, but these days all the departments are involved in this process. Teaching through credit system is shared into two parts: theoretical and practical. Theoretical part enacts as an analyzing, comparing and organizing body based on home and foreign higher education experience. Practical part operates and improves educational curricula organizing and arranging documents according to the order set by the Ministry of Education & Science, RA.
Credit System Teaching embodies the subsequent properties: presence, participation, mid-term exams/tests, final exams/tests, individual and research work, thus improving and encouraging the development of various skills and profound knowledge in a field of study concerned. Besides, Teaching Department elaborates effective methods on creating new testing – evaluating assignments.
Yerevan “Gladzor” University, namely, the Teaching Department shows active participation in a series of seminars, debates and conferences referring to improvements/changes in educational sphere. In 2007, June 21-22, “Gladzor” University Rector, Zh.D. Jhangiryan, Doctor/Professor of Law and Head of the Teaching Department, A. Hakobyan, PhD in Economics, Assistant Professor, participated in international seminar on “Higher Institutional Improvements in Frames of Bologna Process” held by the UNESCO and YSU.
A. Hakobyan, PhD in Economics, Assistant Professor, presented a report on “Introduction of Credit System in Yerevan “Gladzor” University”. Moreover, in 2007, November 27, a round-table discussion was held in “Gladzor” University framing all the accredited Universities and Rector Zh. D. Jhangiryan reported on “Challenges and Legal Issues of Introducing Credit System on “Gladzor” University Model”. Teaching Department functions:
to work out, discuss and ratify documents essential to organize teaching process;
to supervise the implementation of educational timetable per day; to take steps to solve violations of the overall course;
to coordinate the teaching process in the faculties;
to determine steams, groups and subgroups based on entry examination results;
to supply the faculties with required data, to draw the total loading and lecturers’ individual timetables;
to organize Mid & Final examinations/tests; consequently to summarize their results;
to arrange graduation procedure – diploma works, final exams and confirmation of exam boards.
